Sony has already confirmed that the PlayStation Vita is not going to be launched this year in North America and Europe, however, the portable gaming device will be released in Japan by the end of the year. While neither of Sony officials could reveal the exact release date of the gadget, Sony Japan’s President said that we will hear more about it at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show which opens its doors this September.
Hiroshi Kawano went on and said that the company has established the PS Vita release date, but it cannot be revealed at this point for some reason. Sony’s President asked consumers and fans to continue to support the company even if bad things happened in the past few months, and this would probably be the best thing for the Japanese gaming firm who had a very rough year. Most people still think that Sony draw this upon itself after filing a suit against George Hotz, who is now working for Facebook as a security engineer / developer.
Sony’s Tokyo Game Show keynote will be held by Shuhei Yoshida, the President of the company’s Worldwide Studios where all the details of the PS Vita will become official. When Sony will showcase the Next Generation Portable at TGS 2011, it will be the third time the portable gaming device is officially released. There’s a weird trend going on the gaming market recently as Nintendo has officially introduced the 3DS four times.
We can only speculate that Sony will do so, too, so by the time the PS Vita becomes available in North America and Europe, consumers would already be tired of its official announcements. The Japan-based firm hopes that it won’t follow the Nintendo footsteps as the 3DS isn’t selling so well, and as a result, it will get a price cut as of August 12th.
The Tokyo Game Show is nearing, but until then we’ve got Gamescom, a gaming event that takes place in Cologne, Germany, where we should also learn the Diablo III release date, and details about many other games.
