Part 2

I am mainly a desktop user because there are some things about laptops I can’t stand. Among other things there is the issue that after a period of using the laptop, its battery life time starts to be less and less.
If you own this type of laptop you should know from the start there are some solutions. The most common reasons why laptops don’t have the same battery life are two in number: dirty battery connectors and in some cases even the impractical Windows power settings usages for the Acer laptop lineup. If these two aren’t your issue you should check in the laptop for a service look up.
But for now let’s explain about the cleaning of the battery. This process is very simple to do. You start by turning off your laptop and by starting unplugging it. Now just turn the laptop over and take out its battery. You should know from the start, you need to slide the small lock tab on the bottom in order to remove it. Also you will need a cotton swab that has been dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Take that cotton swab and rub the battery with it in concentric circles being sure that in the process you remove all the dirt from the battery’s metallic connectors and so making sure the electricity runes properly into your laptop. After you finish rubbing your battery be sure to blow some compressed air in the battery compartment. This is a good thing for two reasons: 1st you wipe all the dust and debris inside the compartment and 2nd it also dries the alcohol. Now introduce back the battery in your computer and turn it on and see if anything has changed.
If not there is another thing you should take notice and that is to adjust the settings inside your OS. For example in Windows this is done in the following way: go and click on the Windows “Start” button. From there search for the “Control Panel,” and then locate the “System and Security.” After selecting it there should be a “Power Options” option. Press it and a screen will open that is showing your current power plan selection. Go and click on the “Power Saver” box from the list of options. This will make the changes to happen immediate and will mean you don’t need to confirm the new settings. A 1st change you should notice is that your screen will be dimmer when the laptop is unplugged in order to save some energy.
If the problems persist even after this step you probably need a new battery or there could even be some hardware problems.
And almost forgot: there are some tricks when it comes to handling battery life. For example when you are watching live streamed videos, be sure you do this in a low quality format. This also helps a little the life of a battery.
