Nokia is getting ready to launch the new N9, well at least in Sweden, where the countdown begun on the Nokia website.
Indicating less than 49 days left, the countdown sets the release date of Nokia N9 sometime in the second half of September.
Nokia N9, the most interesting smartphone presented by the Finnish company lately, will by launched in less than 49 days according to Nokia’s countdown page in Sweden. The smartphone featuring an open source OS also comes with some interesting features: 3.9-inch curved AMOLED display, a nice UI and 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss lenses.
Nokia N9 is a smartphone powered by MeeGo OS, and features an display using the AMOLED technology. Without physical or capacitive buttons, the user will control his N9 using the touch UI, of the curved display.
The unibody case of Nokia N9 is made of one puce of polycarbonate plastic, so it has no joint points or detachable covers. The microSIM card and the memory card are inserted in a side slot, and the internal components and the undetectable battery are installed before the Gorilla Glass display, protecting the touchscreen of the smartphone.
The Nokia N9 specs include 16 or 64GB of internal storage memory, 1GB of RAM, 1GHz processor and PowerVR SGX530 graphic core. The connectivity options include WiFi N, Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G, and NFC module for online payment. The back of N9′s case hosts an 8MP camera with autofocus, capable of recording 720p videos.
Nokia will not make a real fuss of N9′s launch, as it is a niche smartphone, just like Nokia N900. The Finnish company will focus on developing and promoting Windows Phone handsets, even though none have been released yet.
The fans of the new Nokia smartphone will be able to buy it at a retail price of $660 for the 16GB version, or $749 for the 64GB version.
